YOU CAN AFFORD to build a “Green Home”!! A large majority of prospective home builders believe (with little in the way of facts to back their beliefs) that it is Prohibitively Expensive to build a Green House. The facts are that when you are building a new home you are in one of the largest personal asset amassing times in your life. This is the time to determine if you can put a small amount more into the home now to gain steady savings over the whole life of the home. The facts are that a New home that is built to Build-it- Green standards will last decades longer than a conventionally built home. It will also cost you less in energy bills, maintenance bills, and very likely Doctor’s bills. These savings are realized every month when you get lower Gas, Electric, Landscaping, and Water bills. It has been documented that the minimum Build-it-Green qualified home can be built for about 1-2% more in construction costs. This added initial expense can be recovered in as little as three years of lower energy bills.
